A roaster's work - 4 days
This course is designed to focus on a best practices approach to the work of a coffee roaster. Developed to give a solid practical and theoretical base for people new to the craft of roasting or those who are considering becoming coffee roasting professionals. We will also cover theory and techniques that can be useful to seasoned coffee professionals looking to improve the quality of their work.
Beginning with green coffee selection and sample roasting right through to roast profiling and quality control. The emphasis will be placed on coffee cupping and practical roasting supported by theory for each of the subjects. The idea is that each participant will gain knowledge and skills they can apply to their work to increase the quality of the coffee they roast.
Throughout the course each participant will have an objective in terms of roast profiling and product development that they will be working on. At the end of the course they will be handing in roasted coffees for assessment. Each participant's work will be assessed with feedback provided.
